HIPA: photo exhibition

22 days to create a landmark in world photography

The Challenge:

Design and build a unique temporary museum to house the HIPA’s (Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum International Photography Awards) first ever exhibition of images from HH Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum’s collection of historic photographs, all to be completed in just 22 days.

Created a distinctive and unique series of specially designed structures within the Dubai Design District (D3) – all of which were integrated seamlessly into the surrounding D3 architecture. Inspired by the points of a compass, four separate temperature-controlled pavilions were created to house contemporary galleries hosting unique collaborations with world-renowned photographers - such as Zelda Cheatle and 18 other leading curators – and bringing together stunning work from over 23 countries.
