This memorable event officially marked the beginning of the Messengers of Peace programme ‘empowering scouts worldwide to take on meaningful roles and help local communities’. An incredibly interactive and heart warming event, a night of celebrations. Spearheaded by HRH King Abdullah, backed by the Saudi Ministry of Education and King Carl Gustav of Sweden as the co-sponsor.
The event took place at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Jeddah. A grand and imposing 55 metre wide stage situated right in the centre of the open air stadium played host to over 7,000 guests who enjoyed 80 minutes of thrilling entertainment, speeches and processions, truly celebrating the importance of the Scouts movement. The night culminated with Prince Faisal and King Gustav spreading the Message of Peace, empowering all scouts worldwide to contribute to their local communities. The event was broadcast on Saudi TV to an audience of 18 million people and shown live on YouTube.
Messengers of Peace provided an interesting social responsibility angle to the more commercial brand experiences created by Action Impact. ‘Messengers of Peace’ is a simple concept. Every scout doing good deeds and giving services to others will be part of that collective process aiming at changing the world. In the world today there are 10 million scouts in 100 countries working on key community projects via this programme.
Successfully driving a worthy cause was rewarding for everyone involved. The Action Impact team liaised and worked closely with Saudi officials, Prince Faisal (Minister of Education KSA), the King of Sweden, John Geoghegan, head of WOSM and dedicated scouts from all over the world. The energy, dedication and contributions of the young scouts in helping to make the world a better place was a real inspiration and Action Impact’s role from event management, production, stage set-up to show calling thoroughly reflected this.
Such a success, Prince Faisal thanked the Action Impact team and commented that this event has set a precedent for all future events in support of the Messengers of Peace programme.
