True to Action Impact’s highly competitive nature, when the opportunity arose to take part in the Media Karting Championship, we jumped at the chance. Rounding up a team of five competent drivers and a host of enthusiastic supporters, the Action Impact daredevils made us proud by bringing home the cup for the Best Team Spirit at the first race.
David Markham, Hedley Grist , Aimen Alwan, Leigh ‘Demolition Man’ Pattison and Lewis Hunt make up the team. All of them have previous go-karting experience, which does make us wonder how they managed to lose a wheel in the first race and virtually destroy four karts in the second race…
“These delays cost us a potential podium finish.” said Lewis Hunt. “We seem to be the cursed team but it’s a really great competition with a lot of teams taking it very seriously.”
The challenges of the second race have resulted in us claiming the Slowest Pin Stop trophy (we think this was supposed to say Slowest Pit Stop but we chose to interpret it as best at coming to a gentle stop in a very small space).
Megan Pattison, the unofficial Team Manager, said of the racing:
“The team is having a lot of fun and taking it quite seriously. Despite a few unfortunate technical hitches, we are still giving them a run for their money. Watch this space for the results of the third and final race in the competition!”
